COVID-19 crisis: Face Masks

Governments around the world have made it mandatory to wear respiratory masks to cover mouth and nose in public as an effective strategy to fight Covid 19 virus and its mutant strains. The medical community is on edge over the emergence of new strains of COVID-19, each of which shows signs of being more dangerous and damaging during an already devastating pandemic. For this reason, the medical community has now advocated wearing two N95 or federally certified masks as a precaution.

Margaret M. Kwong, medical director at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto says, “Not every mutation is created equal. The UK strain, B117, is about 70% more transmissible. The South African strain, the 501Y.V2 variant is 50% more contagious, and researchers are investigating to learn if this strain is much less susceptible to antibody drugs or plasma from COVID-19 survivors. While the Brazil strain, known as the P.1 variant, has mutations similar to the British and South African strains.

Black Swan Foundation, licensed Distributor of Covid masks

The Black Swan Foundation is in the final stages of becoming a licensed distributor of a Canadian manufactured mask which is certified by the federal government of Canada. This Canadian mask manufacturer is currently waiting (March 2021) FDA certification whereby Black Swan Foundation will be able to distribute and offer these masks to hospitals.

The Humask is made with materials chosen specifically for their soft texture as well as their hypoallergenic and non-irritating properties for the skin. It is also extremely thin and light, which significantly reduces the discomfort caused by wearing the mask over an extended period.
